I have been a huge slacker on blogging. Well here is one that I have been meaning to blog about for a long time. Here goes:
The beginning of September my parents went out of town to go down the Colorado River with my sister and brother-in-law. My mom's birthday was coming up and my dad had planned a surprise party for her and wanted me to do a video of her. My friend who lives up there wanted me to take pictures of her new little one. I thought since my mom was out of town and wouldn't ask what I was doing, I could kill 2 birds with one stone, go up and get pictures of my mom for her video and take my friends baby picture. I was waiting for my kids to get home from school to go up there. Kaylie wanted to play with a friend, so while Tessa was helping Jackson find some tennis shoes, I took Kaylie to her friends house. While I was gone, a lady called and made Tessa a little nervous. Tessa said she gave this lady dad's cell phone number and wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. When Tessa told me who is it was, I told her that was fine.If someone asks for a phone number it's fine, but never give anyone our address, if you don't know who it is. It ended up being my parent's neighbor. She told her that there was a cow in their basement. My first thought was, did my parents leave the garage door open and one of the cows got out and made it inside. I wasn't too worried, then Steve called and some how I missed his call. I was on my was, just passing the back of the house, when I was listening to the message. I thought I better call him back. He told me what was happening (the neighbor got a hold of him), not to go without him. The neighbor also said I should not bring the kids. I called my friend who's house Kaylie was playing at and asked if the kids could stay there, while I go see what was going on. I grabbed a whole lot of stuff Steve wanted me to get, to help get the cow out. I told him I would just meet him up there. When I was pulling up to my parents house, there were about 8 people there, trying to get the window out. I am just thankful the neighbor got a hold of my when she did. She said she could not remember for the life of her our last name. She prayed and prayed and it finally came to her. I say in perfect timing, I would have been on my way, with the kids and pulling up seeing people trying to brake into my parents house.
Kelly the neighbor had told me what had happened. My parents asked them to keep on eye on the cows because they seem to keep getting out. One of the momma cows had gotten out and was acting really sick. Kelly wasn't sure if it got poisoned or what, so they didn't want the baby cow to get sick also. The cow was found in the front, so all they could do was move it to the front gated part of the yard. My parents basement windows are level with the ground. When Kelly and her husband Larry came back to check on the cow, it had fallen in the basement window. They think it had a seizure and backed up into the window, broke it, and fell down.
We are thinking, by the pictures, that after the cow fell, it tried to stand back up and fell into the wall and made the hole. Some time it shook it's head back and forth, because there was blood almost to the door and on the opposite wall.
They had called anyone and everyone to come help them get it out. They couldn't get in the house, for it was locked, until I got there. It was a very interesting thing to see. Luckily all the doors were shut, so Star, their dog, wouldn't get into the rooms and get into things she wasn't suppose to. That helped keep the smell and flies to a minimal. I am just very thankful for their neighbors and all they did to get it out. By the time Steve and his brother Ty got there, they were putting a chain around the neck and getting ready to pull it out with a tractor.
Steve was very happy too, since he didn't have to do much. He thought he was going to have to cut the cow up to get it out. As all of this was going on, one the the lady's told me that she called the police to let them know what was going on, so if anyone came by and saw people trying to take out a window, they would know they weren't trying to brake in. Of course I had to take pictures for insurance purposes, yea that's it, for insurance purposes.
After they got the cow out, they helped take out all the cow infected items. They took the cow to the back and threw it down the embankment. They cleaned up the best they could and left. Again how thankful I am for all of them.
Steve and Ty boarded up the window so no other creatures could get in.
Then Ty took off and Steve and I cleaned up the rest of the "cow" room.
Two sherrifs ended coming after we got most of the stuff cleaned up and all the neighbors had gone. One said he had to come see it for himself. We joked with them and said, "weren't they the clean up crew."
We had called my parents and left a 911 message, then text them and said do not listen to any of their messages before you call us. We finally got a hold of them Sunday night. My mom and dad were also very thankful for all that helped. My mom was so worried that it was going to smell something fierce. So when she walked in and couldn't smell anything, she was very thankful. Let's just say my dad is done with raising cows.. Do you blame him!

WOW! What a MESS! I'm so impressed by the level of help you got. That was the first time I had ever heard of that happening, and I'm really hoping that it will be the last.
that has got to be the craziest thing I have ever heard of happening to someone I know....what a mess.
